Musical Mondays

We all know what music is; the vocal and/or instrumental expression of our beliefs, thoughts, emotions, and feelings in an artful form. Music is typically harmonious and pleasant to listen to; although that’s not the case with all music. Moreover, people’s taste in music varies greatly. So, what I find harmonious may sound like nails on a chalkboard to someone else, and vice versa.

Musical genres have rather broad scopes, encompassing a plethora of different songs. In my opinion, the best music out there is the Christian genre. I love both the hymns of old and the new contemporary songs. If Christian songs and hymns are written and performed well, they will stir up a feeling of great praise and adoration for God from the deepest depths of our hearts, minds, and souls. They are typically uplifting and encourage one’s faith in our Lord and Savior. That is because we know the truth; that our hope is in the Lord, our Savior, Jesus Christ. (Read 1 Peter 1:3-12).

On Monday, Nov 13, 2023, I’m starting a new devotional series called,
Musical Mondays.”

I will include a link to a video of the song for the week and discuss its inspiration/history, Scripture references, and/or my perspective and understanding of what the artist is trying to portray. Some Christian songs are filled to the brim with Scripture, while others are not. Some Christian songs are obviously Scriptural, while some only slightly nod at God. I will explore all this, so please join me for a melodious devotion each Monday.

Each week, they will be posted on our church’s Facebook page: www.facebook.com/redeemeralpinetx. Please “like” and “share” the posts and “like” and “follow” our church’s Facebook page to help these spread out. Also, subscribe to my devotion blog at: www.redeemeralpinetx.com/devotions. Here, you will be able to read all the devotions that have posted each week.

Feel free to sing along for all to hear and don’t be ashamed of worshiping God with your voice! Here’s to a new Christian song getting stuck in your head every Monday!

Soli Deo Gloria!
